SUMMER CRICKET 2009

HEADINGLEY

MAY - AUGUST 2009

With a capacity of 14,000, Headingley cricket ground is adjacent to the rugby stadium, with which it shares its main stand. It has hosted test match cricket since 1899 and was purchased by Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 2005. Plans are now in place to rebuild the main stand and increase its capacity to 21,000. Headingley was the setting for one of the greatest comebacks in Test cricket when England came from behind to beat Australia by 18 runs in 1981, despite betting odds against them being 500-1.
